As the World Caves In

As someone with an interest in stories that explore the inevitable doomsday, creating a story of my own that follow these themes is something I have always wanted to do. Inspired by Matt Maltese's song 'As the World Caves In,' the game revolves around two best friends spending their final day together in a world with a looming apocalypse. With this artefact, I focused solely on crafting the narrative of Elodie and Ro, along with experimenting with different artistic techniques to convey their story.

To create the game's artwork, I opted for a different approach. Instead of painstakingly designing each tile, I utilized the pixel art tool, pixilart, to draw the backgrounds. These were then imported into 'pixsy,' a tool that converts images into bitsy rooms. To enhance the functionality of the game, I incorporated bitsy hacks, allowing for specific stylistic choices like employing different avatars in different rooms.

Overall, the process of developing my bitsy game was rewarding, as the simplicity of the tool allowed me to present the story in innovative ways. While I would have liked to include more interactivity and choices for players to influence the story's outcome, such as dialogue options and gathering materials for a campfire at the campgrounds, these ideas had to be sacrificed due to time constraints.
