TinkerLab | Audiovisualiser - Week 2

March 20 - 23, 2023

This week, we obtained additional equipment such as a new soldering iron, metal plate, and new thin wires. We divided into two groups based on Ramadan timings: Icen, Princelle, and Nehan worked on Mondays, while Frankie, Louis, and Nella worked on Tuesdays.

We were finally getting the hang of soldering. With Nella and I taking turns with tinning the wires, and Franchesca soldering the wires to the LED Strips, we managed to finish soldering the LED circuit. However, we encountered an issue: the RGB series only partially worked, with only the red light indicating that the circuit was functional.

Moreover, we started preparing other components such as wires, foam, and buttons, ensuring everything was ready for the next steps.

The Deeno board was showcased on campus, receiving positive feedback. Minor bugs were addressed for completion.

Finalized switch mode button, sanded board sides. Mounted forex sheet, glued board sides, labeled jumper wires. Resoldered power supply wire, added black vinyl sticker.

After discovering the soldered button matrix didn't work, we remade it using hot glue, resulting in success within 2-3 days.

Completed frame design, wired remaining button matrix. Initial test failed, reconfigured LED tile mapping, but buttons still didn't light up corresponding tiles.

Completed soldering main button matrix, cut foam walls for LED tiles, painted outer frame.

Designed board frame, finalized name and concept. Programmed LED assignment, resolved row problem for Tic Tac Toe mode.

Explored interactive LED matrix with buttons, achieved single-button LED color change. Prepared matrix wiring for soldering.

Troubleshot and resoldered connections. Fixed code for horizontal LED output. Successful power supply experiment.
